EAST PROVIDENCE — The traditional Memorial Day parade sponsored by the American Legion Riverside Post 10 takes place on Monday, May 26, at 10 a.m. The parade will start at the Looff Carousel at Crescent Park and will end at Post 10 located on 830 Willett Ave.
The parade will take its usual route heading north on Bullocks Point Ave then a right at the Square then another right on Willett Avenue. All veterans are welcome to march with the American Legion. If you are interested in marching, please report to the Carousel no later than 9 a.m.
In addition to the parade, the American Legion will be holding several observances on Sunday, May 25. The event will begin at 8:15 a.m. at the American Legion, then ceremonies will be held at the memorial at Six Corners located on the John Rebello Tunnel on Broadway, then the WWI and WWII memorials located at the Square and the Riverside fire station.
The gathering then proceeds to Sabin’s Point to pay honor to those who lost their lives serving in the Navy, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines. There will be a Memorial service held at Riverside Congregational Church located on Oak Ave at 10 a.m. And will finish at Little Neck Cemetery with a ceremony there.
