A resident of Park Avenue reported hearing a loud crash  outside at 8:50 p.m. and went out to find her parked car badly damaged by another car with a woman at the wheel. Police arrived and charged Chelsea M. Lauder, 21, of 102 Tallman Ave., Portsmouth, with drunk driving (greater than .15 percent).

Sunday, Jan. 13

A resident of 2592 East Main Road (next to the CVS at the corner of East Main and Turnpike Avenue) awoke to a “tremendous crash” at 7:03 a.m. and went into his child’s room to see a car’s headlights shining through the smashed wall into the room. The young child was not home at the time. He said the driver of the car was attempting to back out of the damaged room. The driver of the 2004 Buick Lesabre, William E. Harrington, of 3225 East Main Road, said he missed the turn due to thick fog. The car went through some grass and brush, over the remnants of a stone wall and into the house. Nobody was hurt.
