Child seat safety
The Bristol police department will hold a child seat safety event on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Police officers will be available to assist in the installation of child car seats and restraints to ensure that they are installed properly. As required by state law, all children under age eight years old, less than 4 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing less than 80 pounds must be transported in any rear seating position of a motor vehicle and properly restrained in a child restraint system. The Bristol police will provide the inspections of installed car seats or install seats brought to the police station at no cost.
On Saturday, April 27, the Bristol police department in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Agency will hold a prescription disposal event at police headquarters. Anyone with prescriptions drugs who wants to dispose of them are encourage to bring them to the police station where they will be collected for proper disposal. Out dated and no longer useful prescription medications pose a threat to those who may take them intentionally or by accident. Throwing prescription drugs in the trash or flushing them can pose environmental risks. Public safety officials will be on hand between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to collect prescriptions and ensure they are destroyed and disposed of properly.
