Witnesses told police that she took the turn too wide and struck a guard rail, which caused the car to flip. It came to rest atop the bridge barrier, taking out at least one light pole along the way. Police and fire crews were dispatched at 10:05 p.m., and rescuers transported her to Rhode Island Hospital as a precaution, Warren Police Lt. Roland Brule said.
“We haven’t had an accident like that in a long time,” said Warren Fire Chief Al Galinelli, who was also called to the scene. Lt. Brule said the accident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
