Warren police arrest man at ‘cash for gold’ shop

A tip from a Warren “cash for gold” shop resulted in the arrest Friday of a Portsmouth man being investigated for stealing jewelry in his town.

Police said an employee at the Warren Exchange shop at the corner of Water and Main streets called police Friday, Sept. 14, to report that Justin M. Westley, 31, of Portsmouth, was in the store and was attempting to sell an antique camera. Police said the Warren Exchange employee was aware that Mr. Westley was being investigated in connection with a stolen jewelry case out of Portsmouth, so she refused to buy the camera and instead called the police. Warren Detective Kristin Beaulieu intercepted Mr. Westley at the store, police said, and arrested him on a warrant that had been issued in connection with the jewelry case.

Mr. Westley was charged with felony receiving stolen goods.
