Vehicle runs over Prudence Islander’s leg

PRUDENCE ISLAND — Island rescuers were called to 0820 Narragansett Avenue on Prudence Island on Thursday, Sept. 13, after a 58-year-old man’s leg was run over by a motor vehicle.

Portsmouth Fire Department spokesman Capt. Michael O’Brien reports that crews were called to the residence at 8:48 a.m. They then transported the man to the Sandy Point dock where he was placed aboard a Portsmouth Marine 2 rescue boat and carried to the Carnegie Abbey Marina. A Portsmouth ambulance then transported him to Rhode Island Hospital where he was treated and later released.

No details on the cause of the accident or type of vehicle were immediately available.
