Tiverton police: woman summonsed in Shore Road dispute


Tuesday, Dec. 11

At 2:31 p.m., a Shore Road resident involved in a long-simmering property and private/public road dispute in the neighborhood, was summonsed to appear in 2nd District Court in January on a charge of vandalism/malicious injury to property. Police said that Elaine M. Barboza, 63, of 18 Shore Road, was alleged by a complainant to have gone onto disputed land on Dec. 6, and to have torn down or cut yellow tape, and removed a no parking sign on the land. It was alleged that she disposed of the sign onto the rocks along the nearby shoreline.

Monday, Dec. 10

A verbal argument between a man and woman escalated, and at 8:57 a.m. Robert P. Powell, 43, of 14 Evans Avenue, Tiverton, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct.

Wednesday, Dec. 12

After a man made threats to his mother in the presence of a girl friend, who had a no contact order against him, the man — Jason T. Jones, 19, of 9 Shove Street, Tiverton — was charged at 11:26 a.m. with domestic disorderly conduct and violation of a no contact order.

Saturday, Dec. 15

After being stopped for speeding 82 mph in a 40 mph zone at 2:53 a.m., Marc Miller, 21, of 95 Topsail Drive, Tiverton, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol (2nd offense), refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test, driving while in the presence of alcoholic beverages, and speeding.
