PORTSMOUTH — Police here are investigating a series of housebreaks on or near East Main Road.

From Tuesday through Thursday, there had been four housebreaks, all happening during the daytime. In some cases, the intruder(s) entered through unlocked doors; in others they entered through windows, prying off a screen in at least one instance.

Cash, electronics, jewelry and other items have been reported stolen.

The breaks-ins were reported on Dexter Street (off East Main Road near the high school), Harrington Avenue (off East Main Road, south of Vanderbilt Lane), Boyd’s Lane and the north end of East Main Road.

Police ask residents to report any suspicious activity by calling 683-0300.
