PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth police log from over the past week.
Two people were arrested after trying to cash a stolen check at the People’s Credit Union shortly before 11 a.m. Crystal M. Rebelo, 28, of 10 Francis St., Bristol, was charged with forgery/counterfeit, conspiracy, receiving stolen goods, obstructing a police officer in the executive of his duties and unlawful use of a Rhode Island identification card. Joseph A. Opielwaski, 28, of 95 Taylor Drive, East Providence, was charged with conspiracy, forgery/counterfeit and receiving stolen goods.
Tuesday, March 25
Lori L. Simmons, 29, of 18 Willow Court, was charged on a bench warrant from Sixth District Court for driving after her license had been suspended or revoked. Police stopped her car on West Main Road at Turkey Hill for speeding shortly after 7 p.m., police said.
Wednesday, March 26
Joshua R. Toste, 27, of 537 Main St., Warren, was charged at about 4:15 p.m. on a bench warrant from Sixth District Court for violating a domestic protective order. Police made the arrest after stopping a car in which Mr. Toste was a passenger for speeding on West Main Road.
Oseah A. Dupree, 21, of 17 Central St., Newport, was charged on an active Superior Court bench warrant after his car was stopped for speeding on Route 24 around 10 p.m.
Thursday, March 27
Dejuana J. Tutson, 38, of 140 Park Holm, Newport, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct after police received a report at 7:13 p.m. of a female who had been thrown out of a vehicle on the West Main Road on-ramp to Route 24. The victim, who was found on the side of the roadway with no car in sight, said she and Mr. Tutson, the driver, were on their way to dinner when they began to argue and then starting hitting each other. Mr. Tutson stopped the car, hit the woman repeatedly and and then pulled her out of the vehicle through the driver’s side door and pushed her to the ground, she told police. Newport police stopped Mr. Tutson’s car at 7:27 p.m. in that city.
