PPD_Patch_FixedPORTSMOUTH — Did you hear? The Portsmouth Police Department is now on Facebook.

“The police department will now utilize this social site to publicize events and update its citizens on activities, both criminal and non-criminal, that are occurring in the Town of Portsmouth,” the department stated in a press release issued today.

“The implementation of the Facebook page offers a new form of communication between the police department and the community. Visitors to the site will be able to post questions and comments that the department will respond to in a timely basis. The Portsmouth Police Facebook page is not intended to be used as a reporting method of emergencies. Emergencies should continue to be reported by dialing 9-1-1.”
