Portsmouth police charge man with sexual assault

Portsmouth police patchPORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth police log from over the past week.

Tuesday, Nov. 12

Mark P. Anderson, 21, of 336 West Main Road, was charged with third-degree domestic sexual assault. During a patrol at about 12:50 a.m. near the Weaver Cove boat ramp, police said Mr. Anderson was found in a car with a 15-year-old female whom he identified as his girlfriend. Police said they found a torn condom wrapper on the rear floor of the vehicle. The girl told police that she had snuck out of her grandmother’s house in Middletown, where she was staying.

Police said a gas price sign at Oliveira’s Garage, 3279 East Main Road, had been spray-painted overnight and a snow marker under the sign was missing. Police said the vandalism took place sometime between 4 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 8 a.m. Nov. 12.

Francis J. Jordan Jr., 42, of 2749 East Main Road, Apt. 1, was charged with domestic assault (third offense) and domestic disorderly conduct. Police made the arrest after responding to Mr. Jordan’s apartment around 11:15 p.m. for a report of domestic violence.

Thursday, Nov. 14

Christina L. Loper, 35, of 16 Ranger Road, Newport, was arrested at about 4:45 p.m. on a bench warrant issued by Second District Court. A patrol officer with knowledge of the warrant stopped Ms. Loper’s car on West Main Road at King Charles Drive.

Angela M. Aguiar, 24 of 386 Jefferson St., Fall River, was charged with driving while intoxicated (second offense) and refusal to submit to a chemical test at about 9:15 p.m. Police arrested Ms. Aguiar in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms on East Main Road after receiving a report of an erratic driver.

Friday, Nov. 15

Police said a car driven by Joanna Roussin of Tiverton struck and killed a deer on Route 24 southbound near Boyd’s Lane around 3 p.m. The vehicle was able to be operated from the scene.

Saturday, Nov. 16

Andrew R. Leighton, 19, of 113 Cedar Ave., was arrested around 9:15 a.m. on a bench warrant issued from Second District Court. A patrol officer with knowledge of the warrant spotted Mr. Leighton standing in a doorway on Cedar Avenue.

Katisha K. Almeida, 25, of 2 Flag Swamp Road, East Freetown, Mass., was arrested around 2:40 p.m. on a bench warrant issued by Second District Court. Police stopped the car she was driving on Route 24 north at Freeborn Street because of a loud muffler.

Sunday, Nov. 17

Alexander B. Lees, 22, of 5 Fox Run Road, was charged with domestic assault and domestic vandalism with malicious injury to property. Police responded to her home at about 12:40 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. Police said they were met outside by a man, the father of the couple’s 1-year-old daughter, who had a cut with fresh blood on it under his left eye. Police said Ms. Lees threw a glass cup, breaking it in a hallway.

A car driven by Stephanie Costa of Basin Street struck and killed a deer on Route 24 northbound near Sprague Street around 11 p.m.
