EAST PROVIDENCE — Keith E. Britto, 31, of 212 Summit St., East Providence, was charged by East Providence Police with felony assault for allegedly attempting to strangle his wife on Monday, July 1.
Mr. Britto is alleged to have used both hands to grab his wife’s neck after a verbal disagreement turned physical. He then was purported to have thrown her into an open closet in the room.
Mr. Britto fled the scene on a bicycle before police were able to track him down. A no-contact order was put in place. Mr. Britto is scheduled to appear in District Court.
- Parents in the area of Juniper Street called police to report their son while walking had been shot at by either a BB or pellet gun on the afternoon of June 26.
- Later the same day also on Juniper Street, at about 8 p.m., a resident reported a suspected case of breaking and entering. The resident told police a gold watch and necklace as well as a pearl watch and necklace totaling $1,100 was missing from the premises.
- Also on June 26, police transported a young woman to CrossroadsRI for attention after she was found “stumbling” on Taunton Avenue in the area of the Dunkin’ Donuts shot with no shoes and sparse clothing.
