Working with Portsmouth police, Bristol police officers responded to 15 Goulart Ave. to serve a search warrant on a vehicle owned by David E. Welch, 41, who resides there. While on the way to Mr. Welch’s residence, police observed him driving his pick-up truck and stopped him at the intersection of Metacom Avenue and Mt. Hope Avenue at 11:53 a.m. Police searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered four stolen handguns, as well as pill bottles that did not belong to Mr. Welch. Police said the pill bottles contained Trazadone, an antidepressant, and Omeprazole, a medication used to treat peptic ulcers. Police charged Mr. Welch with two counts of receiving stolen goods — both felonies; possession of a scheduled I-V narcotic; and issued him a summons for driving on a suspended license. Portsmouth police are continuing their investigation into the theft of the firearms.
Sunday, Dec. 30
When police responded to a St. Elizabeth Street residence at 5:56 a.m. to investigate a report of a domestic disturbance, they observed clothes scattered on the third-floor landing. While checking the identification of the parties involved, police discovered that Justin Bernier, 32, of 59 St. Elizabeth St., 3rd floor, had a no contact order against him and was violating the order by being at the residence. Police also said they confiscated a plastic bag containing a leafy substance that was on a dresser. The woman in the apartment told police that Mr. Bernier dragged her around the apartment before punching and kicking her. Police allegedly observed numerous bruises on the woman’s arm and eye. Police charged Mr. Bernier with domestic simple assault; violation of a no contact order; and possession of marijuana.
On Wednesday, Dec. 28, police responded to the intersection of Metacom Avenue and Chestnut Street at 5:11 a.m., where a shirtless man was attempting to flag down passing vehicles. After speaking with the man, police went to his home where they observed several open containers of alcohol and two school-age children who were left alone in the house. DCYF was contacted to investigate and an affidavit warrant was issued. At 6:14 p.m., on Friday, police arrested Nikolas S. Hanuschak, 32, of 45 Oliver St., charging him with abandonment.
After receiving a call that a woman was a victim of domestic assault, police went to a Verdi Lane residence to check on the well being of the woman at 7:10 p.m. When police arrived, allegedly they could hear a woman screaming, then observed a 43-year-old woman who had a black eye. After speaking with the woman, police said that David M. Nota, 44, of 6 Verdi Lane, struck the woman with an iPad, causing the bruise. Police arrested Mr. Nota and charged with domestic simple assault.

While posted at State Street and Thames Street, police observed a disturbance outside Gillary’s with several people in the middle of Thames Street involved in an altercation. When police officers attempted to escort Thomas J. Pagliarini, 23, of North Providence, to the sidewalk, the man resisted the police officer’s instructions and attempted to continue the fight with John J. Lynch, 23, of North Providence.When questioning the men, Mr. Lynch also became uncooperative, refusing to provide names of those involved in the fight. After interviewing bar staff, police were told that Mr. Lynch struck Mr. Pagliarini wile inside the bar. Police charged Mr. Lynch with disorderly conduct, and Mr. Pagliarini with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
At 11:32 p.m., Barrington police arrested Jessica L. Randazzo, 26, of 17 Wilson St., Apt. 2, after learning of an outstanding affidavit warrant from Bristol. On Dec. 29, a man reported to police that he was allegedly assaulted by Ms. Randazzo after he asked her to leave his apartment. When she finally agreed to leave, she allegedly attempted to take the man’s cell phone and he tried to stop her. Ms. Randazzo allegedly bit him on the chin and left. When he caught up to her in her car, he tried to talk to her, but she sped off, striking him in the legs with her vehicle. Police observed the injury to the man’s chin and bruises on his legs. Police charged Ms. Randazzo on the affidavit warrant.Add to favorites
