Boy critical after weekend Tiverton stabbing

TIVERTON — A weekend stabbing has left a 17-year old Fall River youth in critical condition.

Tiverton police Captain Patrick Jones released the following statement Tuesday evening, which he said is all the information that Tiverton authorities are releasing at this time.

“On August 11, 2013 at 12:55 a.m., Tiverton police received a report of a stabbing on Bay Street.  Officers responded and found a 17 year old Fall River male had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and abdomen,” the statement said.

The youth “was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.  Detective Lieutenant Michael Carr and Detective Jason Dunlea are currently handling the investigation. If anyone has any information which could assist with the investigation, they are asked to call Tiverton Police at (401) 625-6717.”

Police were not releasing the boy’s name.
