Cynics take notice: There are still good people walking the streets.

On Monday afternoon, Jan. 21, a 23-year-old  Barrington woman walked into the public safety complex on Federal Road carrying two, one dollar bills.

The woman told police she found the money on Maple Avenue, near a trash can not far from the intersection with West Street.

“That just goes to show you there’s good, honest people out there,” said Police Chief John LaCross.

Chief LaCross also said it was the smallest amount of money he can recall anyone ever turning in.

Police placed the money into evidence.
