Barrington resident charged with driving under the influence

A Manning Drive man was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol-first offense, and disorderly conduct after he allegedly argued with officers outside his home just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by Scott A. Baer, 43, of 6 Manning Drive, after it was reportedly observed crossing over the fogline on County Road. One of the vehicle’s license plate lights was also reportedly out.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle on Manning Drive, Mr. Baer reportedly continued to his driveway and, despite commands from officers to stop, attempted to enter his home.

Mr. Baer also reportedly yelled at an officer.

Mr. Baer told police there was no probable cause to stop his vehicle and once home, there was nothing police could do to him. Police reportedly detected an odor of alcohol coming from Mr. Baer’s breath. Mr. Baer was also reported to have watery eyes and a flushed face.

Mr. Baer was also charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test after reportedly refusing a breathalyzer test, and obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.
