The Barrington High School girls basketball team steam rolled over East Providence 64-39 in the fourth game of the Barrington Boosters Holiday Tournament on Thursday night. The extremely physical game featured heavy hitting under the nets from both teams. In one instance, Townies lightning-quick guard Mary Monagle chased down Eagles guard Caitlyn Nolan who was going up for an easy layup off a turnover and smashed her to the ground. Monagle had 4 steals for the Townies. Barrington sophomore guard Sarah Middleton led all scorers with 18 points. Eagles senior forward Maggie O’Hayer pitched in with 14 points. For the Townies, senior forward Brittany Crosby led the team with 16 points, Thomeeka Speaks scored 12 and Taylor Wiggins netted 9. The Barrington girls play Prout at 6 p.m. on Friday and the East Providence girls play East Greenwich at 3 p.m.

In an earlier game on Thursday, the Barrington Boys played solid defense but had trouble getting it going on offense in a 53-29 loss to North Kingston which dropped their overall record to 6-2. Corey Daugherty scored a team high 10 points and Jesse Brown netted nine in the effort. The Eagles are 4-0 in first place in Division II East and play Mt. St. Charles in the 7:30 game at Barrington High School to finish off the tournament.
