backstopDon’t think wind can bend steel? Think again. This is the galvanized steel backstop at the Burr’s Hill baseball and softball diamond. The large fence, which faces to the northwest, is bent backwards a good 15 degrees. It’s a victim of recent storms that covered it with heavy snow and ice and buffeted it with steady north winds. The Warren Department of Public Works’ Judy Fardig said DPW director John Massed first learned about the damaged backstop Monday and is going to have it repaired in time for baseball’s return.
