Photographer and osprey nest builder Butch Lombardi recently got good news about the nest he helped rebuild and erect last year at Jacob’s Point. It looks like it finally has tenants, he said, good news since it took six or seven years for birds to arrive there after it was originally installed. Other nests around town, too, are still unoccupied or just recently occupied, though they’ve been up for years.
“About two weeks ago a male showed up,” Mr. Lombardi said. “For two weeks I watched him hang around, perching on the platform and a nearby tree. This morning (Monday) there were two birds in the nest. For them to move in after only one year is a great success story.”
Mr. Lombardi, a noted nature photographer, maintains a website with his images.
