The Rotary Club of Warren and Barrington held its 73rd annual installation of officers and directors for the 2013-2014 Rotary year Tuesday night at the Wharf Tavern in Warren.

Taking over as the new president of the club is Warren resident and longtime member Mary Ann Sousa. President-elect is John Leary of Barrington, and accepting the vice president’s position was fellow Barrington resident Domenic Carbone.

Other officers include Shirley Freitas of Warren, treasurer; Timothy A. Pray of Bristol, secretary; and Louis Rego of Warren, sergeant at arms.

Directors include Roger Ellin, Shirley Freitas, Jim Gasparro, John Leary, John Metaxas, Mary Moreira, Matthew Neves, Raymond Parker, Timothy Pray, Louis Rego and Mary Ann Sousa.

“I’m excited about being the new president of this wonderful club,” said Ms. Sousa, a 12-year  club member. “I have some goals I’d like to achieve, including getting more new members to join.”

The brief installation program included a call to order by Mr. Carbone, and the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of God Bless America. There was also a moment of silence for all past deceased members of the Warren-Barrington Rotary Club, and the introduction of officers and directors by Ray Parker.

The highlight of the evening was the exchanging of the President’s gavel from outgoing president John Metaxas to incoming president Mary Ann Sousa. Mr. Metaxas also made several other special award presentations to club members.
