Pedestrian seriously injured by car in Warren

A 29-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday evening, March 27, when he was struck by a car while cross Main Street just after 8 p.m.

Police said the unidentified man was struck by a car driving south on Route 114 toward Bristol as he crossed Main at the Mary V. Quirk School. The victim was struck by the car’s windshield and suffered a fractured skull, broken vertebrae in his neck and a broken leg. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital; police said Tuesday that he was still in the hospital, nearly a week after the accident.

The car’s driver, a man, was not charged after the accident, but police said they are investigating the circumstances of the crash with the help of an accident reconstruction team. A decision on whether to charge the driver is coming, police said.warrenpolice_t670
