One shot, another stabbed in Colt State Park


crime-police-cruiser-350x233Two men are hospitalized after one was stabbed and the other shot during a fight at Colt State Park Sunday evening, State Police Commissioner Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell announced Monday morning.

Two men who know each other were both attending a Memorial Day cookout in the park when they got into an argument that turned violent at about 5 p.m., according to State Police reports. One man pulled a knife; the other a gun.

Police have not yet identified the two men, who both remain hospitalized at Rhode Island Hospital, according to a State Police release. The stabbing victim was originally taken to St. Ann’s Hospital, then transferred to RI Hospital.  

Members of the State Police Detective Bureau and Uniform Division are investigating the incident along with the Bristol and Portsmouth Police Departments as well as the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management and Massachusetts State Police.
