EAST PROVIDENCE — The City of East Providence and the School Department announced at noon time that schools would remained closed through Monday, Feb. 11.
School was also canceled on Friday, Feb. 8, the day Nor’easter Nemo struck the region.
In addition, East Providence High School will remain open as a warming shelter for those residents still affected by loss of electricity and heat.
For those still in need, the city has set 435-7751 as the number to call to report streets that still need to be plowed.
In addition, National Grid has told city officials it has begun getting into the numerous small-area outages, a process which it says takes longer. Grid has aimed to have all power restored in the city by 11:45 p.m. on Monday. Some 500 residents remain without power, down from over 17,000 at the height of the storm.
