Water was close to the Wharf Tavern boardwalk a full three hours before high tide Monday.
The Warren Town Beach was almost entirely underwater at 5:30 p.m., and the water lapped almost up to the deck at the Wharf Tavern restaurant further up Water Street.
In Bristol, police blocked off Poppasquash Road at Hope Street and from the access road behind Colt State Park, saying nobody – cars or pedestrians – were allowed on the road.
However, there was relatively little tree damage as darkness fell, and most households and businesses in Warren and Bristol still had power. There were sporadic outages, however, said Warren Fire Chief Alexander Galinelli, the town’s emergency management director.
