A late afternoon of music and a tribute to a Sakonnet fisherman are planned when the Tiverton Four Corners Arts Center opens its Picnic Series on Sunday,June 9.
Singer-songwriter Troy Ramey will perform, at 3 p.m., followed by two sets by the 6-Digg-It Band until around 7 p.m.
Special guest for the concert is Sakonnet fisherman Mark Lambert who is recovering from an April 30 fishing accident that cost him a hand.
“We will have a book that people can sign and pass along good wishes and we have a few surprise songs we will perform in his honor,” said Tim Smith of the 6-Digg-It Band.
Mr. Lambert told the Times last week that he is doing better and appreciates the many kind words of support he has received.
6-Digg-It performs music from he Beatles, Dave Matthews, Doobie Brothers, Maroon 5, Neil Young, Bob Marley and more.
Vocalists Tim Smith and Dana Ramey have been singing together since high school. Tim’s past groups have included Second Wind, Middle Earth, and the SporADix. Dana performed for many years with the Taz RF Band, the Rockadiles, No Secrets and the SporADix.
Band mates include Portsmouth resident Steven Mortrude with vocals, acoustic guitar and keyboards; lead guitarist Dave DeLeone, bass, lead and keyboards player Chris Knott; and drummer Ben Pereira.
“Don’t miss them,” says the Arts Center. “You are guaranteed an entertaining, heartwarming, and hilarious time.”
Tickets are $10 in advance through the Tiverton Four Corners Arts Center website; $15 the day of the show.
