“I definitely think we beat ourselves,” said head coach Warren Rensehausen. “We didn’t play as well as we could.”
With only two starters returning to this year’s squad, Mr. Rensehausen said that the team just needs a little time to work through some communication issues out on the court.
“It’s going to be a matter of time. They all gave a strong effort. They just need to get enough time together on the floor,” he said.
Although the night ended with three lost games – 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 – senior, Lauren Irons, showed her service strength with five aces.
Defensively, Emma Pattie, a junior, came up with 18 digs to keep the ball in play.
“We just weren’t aggressive enough at the net to put anything down,” Mr. Resenhausen said. “It’s something we can remedy.”
The loss against Central Falls gives the team an early record of two wins, one loss and one tie. Of those matches, they’ve won half of the 12 games played.
“They’re coming into their own,” Mr. Resenhausen said.
The girls faced Woonsocket on Tuesday and on Thursday will travel to face rival Tiverton.
