Power is expected to be restored to the 1,283 National Grid residents in Portsmouth, and surrounding communities, by 8 p.m. tonight.
Damaging winds, heavy rains and quarter-sized hail pounded the East Bay earlier Tuesday evening, knocking down trees and power lines.
In Warren, commuters who ordinarily travel north along Market Street to Rt. 136 had to seek an alternate route due to downed trees and power lines near Country Inn Restaurant. It took crews a little over an hour to clear the road of debris.
In Bristol, National Grid reported less than 5 outages; 44 in Barrington; 67 in Tiverton; and 14 in Warren.
