Memorial Day happenings in Bristol

Bristol MemorialThe Bristol Veterans Council will hold its annual Memorial Day observation on Monday, May 27 with a wreath laying ceremony and a parade to honor America’s veterans.

On Monday, a contingent of military and civilian guests will gather at North Burial Ground at the entrance of Colt State Park on Hope Street, where **** Devault will be the guest speaker. The 9:30 a.m. event will feature a speaking program, cannon salute and musical performances, as well as the laying of a wreath to honor fallen veterans.

Upon conclusion of the wreath laying, chief marshal Bryan Palumbo, a decorated retired Army veteran, will lead the parade that will include four units from the Navy War College in Newport. The parade will end at the Burnside Memorial Building downtown, where a second wreath-laying ceremony will take place in the memorial garden. That will also be accompanied by a cannon salute.

    A job well done to the Vets council, the parade and ceremony were great, one comment – the sound system was not loud enough to hear the speakers at the cemetery. up the volume please!
