All cats are assessed to determine their individual needs and personality traits. The cats are evaluated based on their friendliness, playfulness, their reaction to being pet and held, and their independence. The score assigns a personality color of green, orange or purple. Green cats are ready to go and bolder than your average cat, orange cats are confident and playful, and purple cats are quieter and affectionate.
Potential adopters fill out a simple survey to help identify lifestyle, expectations and home environment, and then are given a green, orange or purple card based on the results of the survey. You don’t have to choose a cat of the same color, but they recommend you at least give those cats a second look.
Meet Your Match® is designed to increase the bond between a cat and adopter and is not based on how cute a cat is or the color of its fur. A well-matched pair will create a positive experience allowing a cat to remain in a new home.
During the kick-off weekend on Feb. 1 and 2, stop by to fill out a survey and discover what color you are. On Feb. 8 and 9, visitors can meet the “green” cats, on Feb. 15 and 16 check out the “orange” cats, and the “purple” cats will be featured on Feb. 22 and 23.
Though certain cats will be highlighted each weekend, all cats, no matter the color, are available to adopt at any time.
