Luca, which she calls Rhode Island’s only designer children and maternity consignment boutique, had been run for nearly three years out of a small storefront at 139 Water St. But this week the shop moved a few doors south to 193 Water St., the home of the former Mercier’s Hardware.
The move allowed Ms. Jennings to expand her inventory while staying on the street she knows and loves. It “was a chance for us to increase our square footage while at the same time staying on Water Street, which is really an iconic place. It’s beautiful and such a great street.”
Shoppers at the former Mercier’s location probably won’t recognize the interior. Ms. Jennings’ crews completely redid the floors, painted the old building’s walls, and transformed it into a bright, airy place full of color.
“We love it here,” she said.
