Little Compton police nab wanted man on Meeting House Lane

Little Compton police had a quiet week, highlighted by picking up a wanted man and busting a 19-year-old for underage possession of alcohol.

Monday , Oct. 8

At 6:48 a.m., police observed Jeremy P. Thurston, 35, of 435 West Main Road, Little Compton, walking on Meeting House Lane. Because he was known to be wanted by the North Kingston Police Department for domestic assault and for violating a no contact order, he was picked up and turned over to the North Kingston Police.

Thursday, Oct. 11

A vehicle turning into a driveway on Long Highway at 11:10 a.m. was struck by another vehicle, which was damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Neither driver was injured, but the driver of the striking vehicle was charged with failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and with driving without insurance.

Saturday, Oct. 13

After stopping a vehicle at 9:44 p.m. on West Main Road for an expired registration, police charged the driver, Zachary G.Leroy, 19, of 27 Louise Drive, Tiverton, with underage possession of alcohol after finding an unopened bottle of Jagermeister in the passengers compartment of the vehicle.
