Lafrance Hospitality Company of Westport has announced plans to build a 90-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott at Rosebrook Place, a mixed-use development by the A.D. Makepeace Company off I-495/I-195 in Wareham.

Makepeace is the world’s largest cranberry grower, and the new hotel will look out over one of the company’s most picturesque bogs.

The hotel, which will feature an adjoining 300-seat function facility, is fully permitted and scheduled for opening in the late summer of 2014.

Lafrance owns and operates eight hotels and five function facilities in New England, and recently expanded its presence with the addition of two properties in Florida.

“We are extremely familiar with the Southcoast market, and feel very confident expanding our presence at this location,” said Richard L. Lafrance, CEO of the four-generation family business.

The property will be developed through a land lease with the A.D. Makepeace Company, which also plans restaurants, retail, and apartments at the site.  The property is located on Route 28 at the intersection of I-495 and I-195.

“This will be a real benefit for the town of Wareham, which currently has no full-service hotel facilities and few accommodations for functions,” said Michael P. Hogan, president and CEO of the A.D. Makepeace Company. “I believe this will be a true asset to the region’s tourism industry as well as an attraction for other businesses. Furthermore, having an experienced regional operator undertaking this project will be an asset.”

The project will result in approximately 50 full- and part-time positions when it is fully operational. Obtaining financing will be the next step in the process and should be finalized by spring.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott has more than 200 locations across the United States.  Geared towards the extended stay market, TownePlace Suites offers one and two bedroom suites with fully equipped kitchens, in-room work space, complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi.

Lafrance Hospitality Company owns Christian’s Catering and five restaurant/banquet facilities: White’s of Westport, Ten Cousins Brick Oven, Rachel’s Lakeside, Bittersweet Farm Restaurant and Tavern and the Waypoint Event Center at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott.  It also owns the Hampton Inn & Suites of Plymouth, the Comfort Inn & Suites of Dover, New Hampshire, and the Comfort Inn & Suites of Farmington/Wilton, Maine. The company owns or operates two Hampton Inns, in Westport and Dover, New Hampshire, as well as a Homewood Suites by Hilton, in Dover, New Hampshire.  Most recently, the company built and opened a Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, in New Bedford, and has acquired a Holiday Inn Express in Milford.
