g12smelrvoowpk1n_400After a couple nights of some hard rocking, the Bristol 4th of July Concert Series changes gears tonight for a slightly more relaxed Sunday evening musical experience.

Tonight, jazz aficionados will revel in the sounds of Gerry Grimo and the East Bay Jazz Ensemble at 6:30 on the INdependence Park stage. Later, Lee Lewis and the Doo Wop All Stars play the hits from the 1950s and ’60s.

6:30 — GERRY GRIMO AND THE EAST BAY JAZZ ENSEMBLE

Gerry Grimo and the East Bay Jazz Ensemble’s repertoire includes a wide range of material from the 1930’s through 1990’s with an emphasis on the “hits” of Jazz, Big Band, Swing, Standards, Oldies, Motown/R&B, Classic Rock, and 90’s Pop/Dance music, Reggae, Country. Ballroom, Latin and more.

7:45 — LEE LEWIS AND THE DOO WOP ALL STARS

From the street corners of Brooklyn, to Boston, to Bristol, the Doo Wop All Stars are keeping the music of the 50’s and the 60’s Unknown-1alive. Performing all the songs that are the foundation for today’s music, the Doo Wop All Stars create an evening of “memory lane” sentiment. Songs such as At the Hop, Heatwave, Duke of Earl, Blue Moon, are but a few of the extended repertoire of this show. This seven piece band with three lead singers will delight every listener with their very vocal and visual performance.

Check back with eastbayri.com each day between now and July 3 for a look at that night’s concerts in Independence Park.
