WESTPORT — Massachusetts primary election day is Thursday, Sept. 6, and Westport voters face several decisions. In the First Bristol and Plymouth Senate District, incumbent Michael Rodrigues of Westport is challenged by David Meade Jr.of Fall River in a Democratic primary. Since no Republican has filed for this seat, this primary is winner-take-all.Incumbent 8th Bristol District Representative Paul Schmid of Westport is unopposed.

Also on the ballot here is a primary race for the 9th District US Congressional seat. That Democratic primary race is between Bristol County District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter of Fall River, and US Representative (and former district attorney) William Keating of Bourne. Mr. Keating’s 10th District was dissolved in the last redistricting so he is now running in the new 9th District.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the five Westport precincts.
