EAST PROVIDENCE — A Cranston man showed something other than money to an employee at a local coffee shop and has been charged for the offense.
The East Providence Police Department Friday, March 22, reported the arrest of Steven Alves, 46 and of Blackamore Avenue, Cranston, on two counts of Indecent Exposure (Disorderly Conduct). Mr. Alves turned himself over to authorities at the East Providence Police earlier Friday.
The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in city March 21 Mr. Alves allegedly exposed himself to a Dunkin’ Donuts employee as he pulled up to the drive thru window to pay for his order.
Store employees were able to obtain a registration plate for the suspect vehicle, and with the assistance of the R.I. State Fusion Center, police were able to get the suspect identified, according to a press release issued by EPPD Lieutenant Raymond Blinn.
Subsequent investigation revealed that this was the second incident in two weeks at the same Taunton Avenue location.
Mr. Alves has a history of similar offense. East Providence learned he was arrested for the same behavior by the Cranston Police Department in 1995.
The EPPD is urging anyone with information regarding similar incidents, possibly involving the same suspect, to call their local police.
