Hit and run or stand and cheer at two Bristol benefits this weekend

Colt State Park will be the site for two fundraising events, benefitting three local causes –  the Community Strings Project, the Bristol Animal Shelter and the family of Cory Burke.

Lace Up for Strings
The Community Strings Project “Lace Up for Strings” 5K road race / 1-mile walk will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, at the Bristol Town Beach. Those who want to participate can register on race day, starting at 7:30 a.m. Registration is $20.

The race is sanctioned by the US Track & Field. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each category.

All proceeds will help support participation in the Community Strings Project.

Colt Park Turkey Trot
Starting at 8 a.m. at the Bristol sports complex inside Colt Park, a “huge” softball tournament will benefit the Friends of the Bristol Animal Shelter, as well as the Burke family, whose son Cory was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Several teams will participate in the day-long event. There will be games, food, prizes, and fun for every member of the family, as well as raffles for many great prizes donated by local businesses. This is sure to be a great event for two wonderful causes.
