PORTSMOUTH — A vampire, Santa Claus, a pirate, a wizard, a beer bottle and even a bearded Red Sox player paraded through the streets of Common Fence Point early this evening.

It was all part of a community Halloween party at the Common Fence Community Improvement Association Hall. There were food and games from 5-7 p.m., with the short parade stepping off at 5:30. Many local kids marched with their parents.

The parade, which featured members of the Portsmouth High School Marching Band, was organized by Lauren McKone, a former band student who graduated in 2010.

“I found the music and the musicians. We’re just going to march around the block and have some fun with the kids,” said Ms. McKone, who’s studying music education at Rhode Island College.
