Alleged child molester, former teacher, had guns illegally

jperryOn Monday morning, Jan. 7, Jesse S. Perry appeared in Rhode Island’s Sixth Division District Court in Providence, where he was arraigned on one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation.

On Monday afternoon, Fall River Police Lt. Kevin Tetrault announced additional charges that Mr. Perry will face in Massachusetts. Because Mr. Perry is a Fall River resident and retired school teacher from the Dighton Rehoboth Regional School District, the Fall River Police Department assisted in the ongoing investigation of Mr. Perry.

During the course of the investigation, the Fall River police department’s major crimes division executed a search warrant at Mr. Perry’s third-floor apartment at 140 Beattie St., where they seized two pistols, a .38 caliber and a .357 caliber, a .22 caliber rifle, and ammunition.

Mr. Perry is not licensed to possess firearms in Massachusetts. As a result, he is being charged with three counts of possessing a firearm without a firearms identification (FID) card, one count of possessing ammunition without a FID card, and improper storage of a firearm.

Mr. Perry is the brother of Richard Perry, 55, of Warren, who also was arrested for child molestation a month ago.

The Fall River Police Department is asking that any resident from their jurisdiction with further information regarding this ongoing investigation, please contact Det. Brian Cordeiro at 508-676-8511, ext. 258.

  1. So it really is true. Absolutely disgusting. I hope the guys at the ACI do a job on both of them. And if the 3rd brother has done the same, I hope he gets nabbed too. I heard what I thought were just “teenage guy rumors” from years ago about Rick “checking for ticks” in areas where the sun doesn’t shine. It goes to show, you can’t always assume it’s just a rumor. I hope the individual that I heard that this happened to so many years ago (mid-late 80’s) has made a statement. I say good for you to those who had the courage to come forward. I’m sure it wasn’t easy, but I’m sure it was a bit of relief to get this off your chest and to help anyone else who was victimized or about to become a victim. I was in school back then and know that it would have been “taboo” to even mention this sort of thing, in such an innocent time. Wasn’t this disgusting individual involved w/ Boy Scouts / Cub Scouts too? So sick!

  2. Gosh, it’s a good thing he wasn’t able to get those guns without a permit- MA’s gun control works!

    Oh, wait. Nevermind.
