TIVERTON — Friday was a snow day for seniors, as far as the Tiverton Senior Center was concerned.
“We’re open, but no one’s here,” The Center’s Director Janice Gomes said about noontime, just hours after the storm moved out of the area.
“Normally there are 40-50 seniors at the Center in the morning for the exercise class, and 45-50 here for lunch, and about 35 later in the bingo crew, ” she said.
When it snows, “the Senior Center is the last to get plowed out,” Ms. Gomes said, so it wasn’t until about 10 in the morning Friday that the driveway and parking area got plowed, which was about when she got it.
“I’m getting a lot of work done,” she said when asked what was happening at the Center Friday. “I’m sure it’s a slow day for everyone.”
She said the Senior Center, normally closed over the weekends, “will be back in business as usual Monday morning.”
