TIVERTON — A “site walk” will take place tomorrow, Saturday, June 1, to look at the potential location for what is probably the largest single commercial development project ever proposed in Tiverton’s history. It’s called Tiverton Crossings.
Tomorrow’s walk, expected to take about two hours, will begin at 9 a.m. at the Fish Road Park & Ride, and proceed from there along Souza Road to Main Road.
Town officials (planning board members, town councilors, others), developers, and any interested members of the public who want to, will then perhaps walk into the woods and undeveloped land along those roads and try to imagine what the proposed development might look like years from now if constructed.
The Tiverton Crossings project is being proposed by the Carpionato Group, which is expected to formally submit a project application before the town for its consideration.
The project envisions 18 buildings — a hotel, restaurants, offices, residences, and retail — constructed on 62 acres of land covering nearly the entire area between Fish and Main Roads, and Souza Road and Route 24.
At the west end, fronting on Main Road, would be a four-level 100 room hotel (62,000 square feet). Adjacent, and also fronting on Main Road, would be a 10,000 square foot restaurant and conference facility, with 475 seats, one of the three restaurants proposed for the development.
