The Barrington Republican Town Committee announced a change in the Barrington School Committee candidate slate on Friday with a press release stating Martha Wallick has withdrawn her name from the race.
In her place, states the release, steps Meaghan “Meg” Ramsden, who was appointed by BRTC Chairman Steve Primiano. Ms. Ramsden is the wife of incumbent school committee candidate Chris Ramsden.
“Due to previously unforeseen demands on my time, I feel I must withdraw my name as an endorsed Republican candidate for the Barrington School Committee,” read a statement from Ms. Wallick.
“I would not be able to devote the time and attention necessary to do the job to the best of my ability.”
Ms. Ramsden holds an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth and a master’s degree in education from Harvard. She has worked in public relations and, for the past 12 years, as a co-teacher at Barrington Early Childhood Center.
Her volunteer activities include classroom time in Barrington Schools including roles on the Hampden Meadows PTO executive committee and Barrington Boosters. She was also previously served as Barrington Middle School PTO co-president.
Ms. Ramsden will now move forward as one of five candidates for three open school committee seats. Along with the Ramsdens, candidates include Republican incumbent Patrick Guida, Democratic incumbent Bob Shea and democrat Paula Dominguez.
