Update at 8:00 PM Monday, June 9 — Team Alvimedica is at the Newport Shipyard! Come down and cheer them on!

Skipper Charlie Enright, Bristol, RI, reported that Team Alvimedica anticipates to be off of Castle Hill Light at 730pm and to the Newport Shipyard dock at approximately 8-830pm this evening. Bristol skipper Charlie Enright and Team Alvimedica were 300 nautical miles from Newport early this morning (Monday) and expected to arrive from their transatlantic training leg in moderate winds early evening Monday before sunset. Their rapid passage started out at a fierce pace averaging 20 knots boat speed after leaving Lisbon, Portugal on May 29.

Sail Newport encourages all boaters to come out and welcome the Team home to the U.S.  Stay tuned to facebook/volvooceanracenewport. Local sailors on the boat include Jesse Fielding (North Kingstown), Nick Dana (Newport) and veteran Volvo Ocean Race media crew Amory Ross (Newport).
