EAST PROVIDENCE — Due to increased call volumes and inquiries related to recent changes made to both the recycling program and the holiday trash collection schedule, the City of East Providence’s Department Public Works is issuing the following series of updates and reminders to residents.

Curbside Collection Policy

The City is responsible for the collection and disposal of that material which is generated in the course of daily living from the household. New holiday guidelines have been implemented. When your trash collection day falls on a holiday all collections will result in a one day delay for the remainder of the week. This applies to Trash, Recycling if collected that week and Yard Waste when in season. (PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE TRASH COLLECTION ON PRESIDENTS DAY).

Recycling Carts

Recycling collection is every other week. If you do not have the calendar that was provided when your recycling cart was delivered it can be found on the City’s web site www.eastprovidenceri.net. Please remember on Recycling weeks your recycling cart must be set out at the curb in order for your rubbish to be collected. If you are not sure what can be recycled please check www.recylcingtogetherri.org. NO CART, NO TRASH PICKUP.

In addition, Public Works notes the variety services offered by the department as well as those available to residents though its drop-off program.

Yard Waste

Yard debris is collected in paper bags or barrels with Yard Waste tags. Bags are available at City Hall, Engineering Division and Public Works Office at 60 Commercial Way, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Yard Waste is collected April-December weather permitting.
