EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Police Department has issued a parking ban beginning noon Friday, Feb. 8, in anticipation of the arrival of Nor’easter Nemo and blizzard-like conditions expected to smother the area.

The parking ban will stay in effect until further specified.

The EPPD is gearing up for the storm like all other city departments. Deputy Chief Major Christopher Parella said the department is ready to add extra staff if needed. All vehicles, including the department’s SUVs and HumVs, are prepared to be brought into service.

In addition, the EPPD will remain in constant contact with E.P. Fire Department officials as well as Public Works and Emergency Management to coordinate responses to all situations.
