East Providence Police investigate overnight hit-and-run

EAST PROVIDENCE — The East Providence Police Department is investigating a hit & run pedestrian accident that occurred early Saturday morning, Dec. 8, at approximately 12:30 a.m. at the Six Corners section of Taunton Avenue.

A 51-year-old male from East Providence was crossing the street when he was struck.  He sustained multiple broken bones to his lower extremities and serious head injuries. He is currently still being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.

After striking the victim, the suspect vehicle continued on without stopping.  The vehicle is described as a dark colored, possibly maroon, and may have damage to the front end, hood, and windshield.
