National Police Week traces its roots to 1962, when President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day. Tuesday night’s service was once again sponsored by the East Providence Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1 and the East Providence Fraternal Order of Police Associate Lodge 1.

East Providence Post and eastbayri.com photographer Tim Marshall captured the event through photos.
