EAST PROVIDENCE — Some five months after the crime, suspect Andrew Jett will be arraigned in Providence District Court for the murder of August 2012 murder of city resident Michelle Busby.

Mr. Jett, who turned himself into Baltimore, Md. police a week after the alleged incident took place, faced charges in Sixth District Court in front of William C. Clifton Wednesday morning, Feb. 13. Ms. Busby’s alleged murder occurred on Aug. 24.

Mr. Jett, who was considered a “person of interest ” in the murder of the 50-year-old Metacomet Avenue resident, turned himself in to Baltimore police as a parole violator about a week after the incident, according to East Providence Police Chief Joseph Tavares. Mr. Jett was eventually extradited by sheriffs back to Rhode Island, where he has been held at the Adult Correctional Institute in Cranston.

Prior to his capture, the East Providence Police Department in conjunction with the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office and other law enforcement partners had reportedly focused on the Baltimore area as a location where Mr. Jett may have been headed in what was later confirmed as the victim vehicle.

The vehicle was located in Maryland and returned to Rhode Island. EPPD detectives traveled to Baltimore to continue their investigation of the case.
