EAST PROVIDENCE — In a press release Thursday, Nov. 8, East Providence Fire Department Chief Joseph Klucznik announced the start dates of the temporary relocation plans for Station No. 4 and its Administrative Offices as both are about to undergo significant renovations.
Fire personnel and apparatus from Station No. 4 will close down on Wampanoag Trail and relocate down the road about a mile to the former Verizon hub on 175 Amaral Street on Tuesday, Nov. 13. The Administration Offices will move to the Sweetland House, located at 610 Waterman Ave. on the complex of the East Providence Senior Center, on Wednesday, Nov. 14. These relocations will be in effect through August of 2013.
The relocations are the result of a $6.4 million Station Construction Grant that the Fire Department obtained through the Federal Emergency Management Agency via the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The grant allows for the complete renovations of Station No. 1 (Headquarters), located at 913 Broadway, and Station No. 4, located at 66 Wampanoag Trail. Fire apparatus and responding Fire personnel will remain at Fire Station No. 1 during the construction phase. All Fire Department telephone numbers will remain the same.
During the construction phase, the following Administration Offices will be relocated to the Sweetland House: Fire Chief & Staff, Fire Prevention Staff and Fire Alarm Inspector.
The following will be relocated to 175 Amaral Street: Engine 4, Rescue 4 and the Director of Emergency Medical Services
