EAST PROVIDENCE — The 33rd edition of the East Providence Heritage Days Festival went off pretty much without any hitches over the weekend of July 19-21 on the grounds at Pierce Memorial Field.
There was one minor incident of note. A tent/tarp covering covering the main stage inside Pierce Stadium blew over during one of the two flash storms that hit the area Saturday evening. Heritage Days Committee Chairman Clarence “Junior” Butler said to his knowledge no one was injured and no property was damaged. Mr. Butler said the insurer of the event was contacted and made aware of the situation.
As for the rest of the event, all acts, attractions and fare went on as scheduled throughout the weekend despite the weather, which was hot and sticky both Friday and Sunday and wet times on Saturday.
Musical highlights of the weekend, which was dubbed “Tributemania,” included: TRAMPS LIKE US, a Bruce Springsteen Tribute, WHO ARE YOU, a A Celebration of The Who, UNFORGETTABLE FIRE, a U2 Tribute, AM/FM, a Three Dog Night/Rascals and BEGINNINGS, a Chicago Tribute.
