Local choir conducts Holy Week concerts

If singing is praying twice, then the folks at Blessed Pope John Paul II Parish in Pawtucket and those who join them will be doubly blessed this coming Holy Week.  The choir of the newly formed parish, combined from the former parishes of St. Cecilia and St. Leo the Great, will present “The Song of Mark,” a musical adaptation of the gospel of St. Mark.  More than 20 choir members, along with the littlest singers of the church’s popular Children’s Choir, will join voices to present highlights of Mark’s gospel stories, including the Holy Week events of Jesus’ passion and resurrection. Anyone looking to celebrate this holy season and to truly hear the word of God in a whole new way, should plan to see “The Song of Mark.” The choir, led by Bob LeClair, is hosting three showings:  Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. and Palm Sunday, March 24, at 2:30 p.m. in St. Cecilia’s Church, 750 Central Avenue, Pawtucket. Donation is just $5 for Adults and $3 for children. Come open your heart and let the music of the lion-hearted Mark enlighten you this Holy Week.
